By now you've probably seen Stand Up Paddlers, seemingly walking on water! Check out this wonderful new sport! Give Stand Up Paddling a try in our introductory SUP class. SUPing has become incredibly popular in a few short years because it's so fun, easy, and another GREAT way to get on the water. (It's good for you, too.) No previous paddling or surfing experience is necessary. This 3-hour session in the sheltered water of the Oakland Estuary (launching from our dock at Jack London Square) will get you started, and you'll be cruising in style in no time. Our SUP boards are great for novices - great for rentals, too, once you've completed the class.
Start time: 9:00 am
Private lessons may be scheduled upon request; private instruction rates are $179 for 1 student, $129 per person for 2 students; $99 per person for 3 students. With 4 or more, normal rates apply. Limited to 5 persons maximum.

Be the first to try our 2015 SUP boards and paddles! We'll be bringing our entire demo fleet to the Parkside Aquatic Center, along with expert advice and instruction from our staff and instructors.
Featured will be 2015 product from all of our SUP vendors: Starboard, Hobie, SIC Maui, Amundson, Pau Hana, Bic SUP, and Red Paddle Co. We will also have demo paddles from Werner, Kialoa, and AquaBound. Which ones are right for you?

You've had some solid instruction in SUP and are now ready to develop the skills needed to paddle effectively in wind, waves and current! We'll review fundamental stroke technique, then get you practicing new moves that will have your board dancing on the water with maneuvers such as: nose rudder, cross-board draw, paddling in the surfer stance, and bracing strokes. As we paddle out into the Oakland Estuary, "blending strokes" becomes more natural while practicing upwind, downwind and cross wind paddling. It's all about moving your board where you want it, and having more fun while doing it!
Start time: 9:00 am

If you are curious about stand up paddling and want to "get your feet wet," this course is for you! This 90-minute session in the sheltered water of the Oakland Estuary (launching from our dock at Jack London Square) will get you started, and you'll be cruising in style in no time. Paddlefit 1: Oakland Estuary    $50
                  
Check out the SUP PaddleFit program with this introductory session taught by certified Paddlefit instructor Mike Wang! In this fun and challenging SUP fitness class, you will learn the many benefits of training on a SUP, including paddling skills, balance, endurance, strength, and focus! Now is the time to start on your path to get on the water, and achieve your training goals.
Duration: 8AM to 10 AM; offered every Sunday morning.
Location: Oakland Estuary, Jack London Square
CCK provides all equipment, including, US Coast Guard approved life vest (required for SUPs in open water), SUP board, and paddle. You will need to provide some personal items for the class.

Paddlefit 2: Oakland Estuary    $50
                  
PaddleFit2 is the intermediate to advanced Stand Up Paddle fitness class. We introduce you to new combinations of land and water drills that will keep you challenged in a fun and demanding training program! The class includes proper warm up exercises, awesome work load drills, and great cool-down activities. We build functional strength as well as increased endurance while focusing on injury prevention. You will get stronger, and become a better SUP paddler!
Duration: 7AM - 9 AM; offered every Wednesday morning
Location: Oakland Estuary, Jack London Square
CCK provides all equipment, including, US Coast Guard approved life vest (required for SUPs in open water), SUP board, and paddle. You will need to provide some personal items for the class.
Prerequisites: SUP 201, or equivalent training. Good physical condition is important to assure an enjoyable class! The minimum age for this clinic is 14 years; children under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. SUP Journey: Treasure Island to Jack London Square    $89
                  
Join us for a guided SUP paddle from Treasure Island to Jack London Square on the Oakland Estuary. Well meet at CCK Oakland and shuttle to the island, launching from the north point to enjoy spectacular views of the San Francisco bay. We'll paddle under the Bay Bridge and into the Oakland Estuary with assistance from the flooding tide. This is an excellent first foray into open water paddling on an SUP board, and the perfect prerequisite for more advanced trips in the future! In the Spring & Summer months, this trip will be scheduled for windy afternoons, and serve as an intro to downwind paddling. 12'6" SUP touring boards included (no surfboard shapes!).
Prerequisites: SUP 201 or equivalent training; ability to paddle 3 mph comfortably for at least 2 hours duration. Recent SUP experience mandatory! Participants must be in excellent physical condition, and able to maneuver a SUP in moderately choppy/windy conditions. Touring boards only, 12'6" minimum length (no surfboard shapes). The minimum age for this trip is 18 years.

ACA SUP Instructor Certification Workshop (3 Days)    $399
                  
The exploding sport of Stand Up Paddleboarding requires a new cadre of qualified instructors. In the fall of 2010, the American Canoe Association introduced curriculum for SUP instruction to help further the sport of SUP and ensure its healthy future. The ACA has partnered with California Canoe & Kayak to provide a Level 1-2: Essentials of SUP Instructor Certification Workshop. This 3-day course takes place in the protected water of Pillar Point Harbor (Half Moon Bay).

Prerequisites: Participants should possess the paddling skills, technical knowledge, rescue ability, teaching ability, group management, and interpersonal skills commensurate with this level of certification prior to presenting themselves for evaluation as Instructor Candidates.
