Warm Water Rescue Clinic for Sea Kayakers    $60
                 
Practice vital rescue skills and learn new techniques for re-entering your boat. In the warm, clean comfortable learning environment of an HEATED POOL.
Participants can refine their "T" rescue and Paddle-Float. We will have stirrup/slings available for those wishing to refine those rescues. You can experiment with these rescues, have fun learning, AND stay warm!
Classes are taught at the Aquatic Center in Folsom. Winter sessions are scheduled for Saturdays, 12-2PM.
Prerequisites: Beginning Sea Kayak or equivalent, plus recent paddling experience.

Warm Water Sea Kayaking (Folsom)    $119
                 
Learn to kayak in the most comfortable environment possible - a heated pool! First, we teach the rescue procedures in the pool on Saturday, followed by a session the next day at beautiful Lake Natoma, practicing the basics strokes. The class covers the same information as our regular Beginning Sea Kayaking class. Graduates of this class are qualified to rent sea kayaks and participate in more advanced classes and trips (must complete both sessions to pass). Includes wet suit and paddling gear, and free rental coupon for a future trip! This class is specially tailored for winter months, to prepare you for the great opportunities that the warmer seasons have to offer.
Prerequisites: Kayak Basics class (or equivalent program) can be helpful, but no previous kayaking experience is required; however, good physical condition is important to ensure an enjoyable class; practicing the rescue procedures can be strenuous. The minimum age for Beginning Sea Kayaking is 14 years; children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Kayak Basics: Lake Natoma (PM)    $59
                 

Do you want to learn to paddle but are not sure where to start? This afternoon class will allow you to try and learn about different types of kayaks, including Sea Kayaks (Touring kayaks), Recreational Kayaks, and Sit-on-Tops. Learn basic strokes and the differences between each boat type. This class also focuses on essential water safety, and how to maximize your fun!
Class runs from 2PM to 6PM
Alternate Location: Kayak Basics: Oakland
Prerequisites: Good physical condition is required to assure an enjoyable class. If you are not sure about your ability to handle this activity, please contact our Program Office at 800-366-9804. Note: The minimum age for Kayak Basics is 14 years; children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Beginning Sea Kayaking: Lake Natoma    $99
                 
Your ticket to the wonderful world of sit inside kayaking! We teach you the basic strokes and efficient rescue techniques necessary for paddling closed deck kayaks on any type of water; graduates of this class are qualified to rent boats and participate in more advanced classes and trips. With three locations to choose from - Oakland Estuary, Half Moon Bay and Lake Natoma - we have the ideal kayaking classroom for you. Includes wet suit and paddling gear, and free rental coupon for a future trip!

Sea Kayaking II: Sacramento    $99
                 
In this inspiring class we work extensively on boat lean and edging for ultimate control and maneuverability. We also review rescues in open water, introduce basic navigation techniques and fine tune your paddle strokes. This class is the stepping stone to the Surf Zone and beyond.
Prerequisites: Beginning Sea Kayaking (or equivalent; you must have practiced wet-exit and rescue procedures). Recent paddling STRONGLY recommended, such as twice paddling in the previous 2 months.

Video Stroke Clinic: Lake Natoma    $59
                 
The very best way to improve your technique is with expert coaching and video analysis. Join ACA Instructor Trainer Bryant Burkhardt for an afternoon of learning and refining various techniques - from the all important forward stroke to sweeps, draws and rolls (if you've got one). The four hour session will include video of each student and review on the shore. This class takes place at our Willow Creek Location on Lake Natoma. Appropriate for paddlers at any level - from new boaters wishing to be able to paddle farther to experienced veterans looking for some extra speed or rough water control.
Prerequisites: Appropriate skills and experience depending on the type of kayak you will be paddling. Use of a closed deck kayak and sprayskirt requires BSK or equivalent.

Kayak Rolling   
        

Build your confidence and learn to roll! Rolling is the safest and fastest self rescue technique available for white water paddlers and sea kayakers. We have heated pools in Folsom and Bay Area for the most comfortable learning environment. In Folsom; Srping/Summer sessions are scheduled for Thursdays from 8PM-10PM; Winter sessions will be on Saturdays from 12:00 - 2:00PM

CCK Roll classes are available in the Bay Area at our Richmond pool, Thursday evenings 7PM-9PM: Sign Up for Kayak Rolling in Richmond.

Note: Kayak rolling is normally taught in whitewater kayaks due to space limitations in the pool and to facilitate the learning process. Please call us if you wish to use a sea kayak for your session.
Practice Only Sessions (no instructor): $10 pool fee with your own kayak (paid to CCK); sea kayaks welcome. Separate $10 fee for whitewater kayak rental. Call (916) 851-3600 to reserve a kayak for practice; space is limited!
