Whitewater 101 - South Fork American (2 Days)    $225
                  
Two day introductory course, includes FREE camping and FREE lunch. Taught on the South Fork of the American River in Coloma, CA, this class covers the basic strokes and techniques necessary to run the river - the first in our sequence of classes.

It's no myth that men and women learn differently. CCK offers our WW101 class designed for women and taught by women. Taught on the South Fork of the American River in Coloma, CA, this class covers the basic strokes and techniques necessary to run the river - the first in our sequence of classes.

Two day introductory course. This class covers the exact same strokes and techniques as our regular WW101 course but does so on the more mellow class I section of the Lower American River in Sacramento, CA. Perfect for those looking for a less challenging environment close to home.

Whitewater 101 for Sea Kayakers (2 days)    $225
                  
So you want to take your sea kayaking experience and apply it to the river - this is the course for you. Two day introductory whitewater course, includes FREE camping and FREE lunch. This course builds on your general kayaking knowledge and teaches you how to run the river with eddy turns and peel outs!

Prerequisites: Beginning Sea Kayaking or equivalent experience (including wet exits). And good physical condition will help assure a more enjoyable experience.

Taught in hardshell or inflatable kayaks, this one day introductory course will teach you the basics of paddling and get you going downriver!

Feeling rusty? Haven't been on the river in a season or more? This two day intermediate course will get you back in the boat and feeling comfortable on class II whitewater. Includes FREE camping and FREE lunch, all equipment, and professional instruction!

Kayak Rolling - Rancho Cordova    $60
                  
Build your confidence and learn to roll! Rolling is the safest and fastest self rescue technique available for white water paddlers and sea kayakers. We have heated pools in the Sacramento and Bay Area for the most comfortable learning environment. Roll classes in Rancho Cordova are taught at the INDOOR POOL of the Paradise Cove Aquatic Center next door to CCK. Sessions are scheduled for Thursdays from 7PM to 9PM (actual duration in the pool is about 1.5 hours). Rolling classes are FREE after completing our Rapid or Full Immersion 4-Day and 5-Day courses: no charge until you get your first unassisted roll.
Practice Only Sessions: $12 pool fee with your own kayak. Separate $10 fee for whitewater boat rental. Call (916) 851-3600 to reserve a boat for practice; space is limited!

Note: Kayak rolling is normally taught in whitewater kayaks due to space limitations in the pool and to facilitate the learning process. Please call us if you wish to use a sea kayak for your session.

Advanced Rolling - Rancho    $50
                  
Already have a roll but looking to learn new techniques - this is your chance to pick up a new roll while practicing in a heated pool. Learn an off-side, back deck or hand roll - whatever you are looking to add to your repetoire. Taught by Sacramento Program Director Bryant Burkhardt - ACA certified Advanced Whitewater and Open Coastal Instructor.

Learn or improve your whitewater slalom technique with local Olympic hopeful Jessica Subido. Slalom is the BEST way to improve your boat control and technique as well as a great way to have fun on the river. This two-day clinic will cover the basics in running gates, making faster turns and controlling your boat in and out of eddies.

4 Day Rapid Immersion - for Women    $425

It's no myth that men and women learn differently. CCK offers an introductory class designed for women and taught by women. Located less than an hour from Sacramento, class is held on the South Fork American River. This course is designed for those who would like to gain comfort and control in class II whitewater.
Included is FREE camping and FREE lunch, river access fees, river transportation, and a coupon for a future kayak rental so you may get out on the water and practice your newly found skills at no additional cost. The curriculum for this course includes: WW101, WW201.the Folsom Roll, and the Class II Trip.

These comprehensive workshops for experienced paddlers cover safety, technique, group management and teaching progression, in classroom and on-water sessions. Our Instructor Development Workshops (IDW) present the knowledge and skills that are expected of Whitewater Kayaking ACA instructors; certification takes place separately, during the Instructor Certification Examination (ICE).

Your kids will love the chance to play games and get wet this summer while learning to kayak. This 3-day camp is held on the South Fork American River and gives the kids a chance to learn to paddle Class I/II whitewater.
Prerequisites: Participants must be between the ages of 9 & 14, in reasonably good physical condition, able to swim, and comfortable with their heads under water.

Swift Water Rescue (2 Day)   
        
Two day course, includes FREE Camping and Certified Instruction! Don't just sit there, be prepared!
This course will take skills taught in Rescue III and American Canoe Association Swiftwater rescue courses, and combine them with a philosophy of "safety through skill, knowledge, and experience" to create a theoretical and practical experience that will send you away more prepared as a rescuer in the swift water environment. Participants will recieve an ACA Swift Water Rescue participation card at the end of class.
Prerequisites: Whitewater 101, or equivalent experience
