Kayak Rolling: OaklandBuild your confidence and learn to roll! Rolling is the safest and fastest self rescue technique available for white water paddlers and sea kayakers. We have heated pools in the Sacramento and Bay Area for the most comfortable learning environment. Sacramento area roll classes in are taught at the Folsom Aquatic Center. Starting in November roll classes will be on Saturdays from 12:00 - 2:00PM. (actual duration in the pool is about 1.5 hours). Practice Only Sessions: $10 pool fee with your own kayak (pay to CCK). Separate $10 fee for whitewater boat rental. Call (916) 851-3600 to reserve a boat for practice sessions; space is limited! Note: Kayak rolling is normally taught in whitewater kayaks due to space limitations in the pool and to facilitate the learning process. Please call us if you wish to use a sea kayak for your session. Prerequisites: There is no prerequisite for this class; however, previous paddling experience is highly recommended. We have heated pools in the Sacramento and Bay Area for the most comfortable learning environment. Roll classes near Sacramento are held at the Folsom Aquatic Center. Two day introductory course covers the basic strokes and techniques necessary to run the river - the first in our sequence of classes. Learn how to control your kayak and navigate class I & II whitewater. Prerequisites: No previous kayaking experience is required; however, good physical condition is important to ensure an enjoyable class; river kayaking can be strenuous! The minimum age for Whitewater 101 is 14 years; children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Our Level 4: Whitewater Kayaking Instructor Certification Examination (ICE) is a two day course to certify instructors at the American Canoe Association standards. Those seeking certification at a lower level are also welcome to take the course for certification.
