Since 1993 we've operated our premier coastal center from the shores of Pillar Point Harbor, next to the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club. Situated at the north end of Half Moon Bay, the harbor area is an excellent venue for a wide range of sea kayaking activities. We have a superb multi-media classroom devoted to sea kayaking instruction, with numerous displays on kayak history, destinations, technique, and more. Changing rooms, rest rooms, hot showers, and the amenities of the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club make it a comfortable place to learn sea kayaking, as well as relaxing after your class.

Kayaking Near Pillar Point

With the sheltered harbor and nearby ocean, this is a perfect location for learning everything from basic skills to kayak surfing, navigation, and open coast strategies. We also offer harbor and ocean tours, special events and workshops, youth and corporate programs, and ACA instructor certification. The Pillar Point Classic Kayak Race is held here every June. On weekend evenings, May through September, our popular Social Paddles head out for a leisurely sunset cruise. Arrange to stay at local B&B, Hostel, or Inn, making it a perfect weekend adventure!
