A Benefit for American Whitewater

California Canoe & Kayak once again teaming up with Jackson Kayak and American Whitewater to provide some topnotch river skill clinics. This is our 7th year offering four dynamic clinics:

2019 Opening Day

1. Coloma to Greenwood aka C-to-G

Need to add a back deck roll to your skill set?  Want to gain river running confidence?  Thought about trying some down river play?  Let this group of diverse instructors help make you a well rounded paddler.  C to G offers up some great play spots as well as great eddy lines and river running testing grounds.

2. River Safety and Group Management

Learn from two of the best in the business.  Get some great skills refreshers on your everyday paddling while also learning how to keep your paddling group safe.  Carson can help you understand the foundation of hard river rescue skills while, Hilde has managed countless groups down the Grand Canyon.  Those years of guiding experience can lend you effective ways to communicate and travel down river as a collective organized group. This clinic will be taught on Coloma to Greenwood.

3. 3D River Running

What’s all the hype these days about river runners that can get vertical?  Let Colin and Noah prove it to you with a great introduction.  We will make our way down Chili Bar squirting, splatting, kickfliping, and catching waves on the fly.  The antix is the most versatile boat out there, and is a great way to spice up a creek run, or simply approach an old favorite in a new way.

4. Creeking

Look to get your technical skills and mindset to evolve towards a focus on Creeking.  Creeking is when your river run gets steeper, more technical, and things come at you quicker.  Ever wonder how the best in the game make it look flawless? They plan ahead and practice with contingencies in mind.  Let Phil and Johnny help you incorporate this into your every day thought process with Chili Bar as the venue.

2019 Demos, Clinics, & Skills Day

California Canoe & Kayak is excited to present a new format for Paddlefest! We want to provide you with a high-quality learning experience along with good information about all the types of kayaks and canoes that are available. Continuing 2018 Paddlefest format, we will provide you with expert advice and information by adding clinics that focus on practical learning for canoeing, kayaking, and surfskiing. Learn all about the ins and outs of the Hobie Mirage Kayaks and the Hobie Mirage Eclipse. The manufacturers’ reps will provide you the low-down on all the different types of paddle craft so you chose the one that works best for you. Our instruction staff will conduct clinics so you can learn paddle skills; learn best practices for family days on the water, and more. California Canoe & Kayak Fishing Team will be there to guide you on the best ways to outfit your Hobie Kayak for your kayak fishing trips.

You will also have the chance to demo new kayaks, canoes, surfskis, and pedal driven kayaks.

We are all about quality, informative experience for you and your whole family. The event is one day only rain or shine.

Space is limited, registration in advance is required. Skill clinic fees are fully refundable if you purchase a kayak, canoe or board from us by the end of June 2019.
